Residential Indoor Air Program (RIAP) – Background

Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN)  has launched a Residential Indoor Air Program (RIAP) to address community concerns about indoor air quality, particularly related to odor and ultrafine particles from aircraft emissions. The program will distribute medical-grade HEPA air purifiers to eligible households in New Haven and East Haven.

While air quality measurements near the airport are consistent with readings across the City of New Haven and the region, HVN remains committed to providing tangible solutions for residents. This aligns with HVN’s larger commitment to a greener, cleaner and more sustainable airport.

The program is fully funded and managed by Avports, HVN’s airport operator.

838 residential properties are eligible for the program, with 523 located in New Haven and 315 in East Haven. Property owners will be contacted and invited to participate by mail.
